The Peaksville Christian Church is a vital growing congregation located in the village of Peaksville, Mo surrounded by literally thousands of acres of beautiful northeast Missouri farmland. The congregation has been around for 156 years but the members are excited about Christ and sharing His love with everyone in the community. It took Peaksville 151 years before it made it's 1st mission trip in 2007. In 2009, nineteen of us travelled to Galveston Texas to help with repairs to three churches that were damaged by Hurricane Ike in 2008. This year we travelled to Jopline Missouri and helped with clean up after the tornado in May.
People recognize congregations to be vital for many reasons. At Peaksville you will find many of these indicators. You will find 1) We're excited to help people come to know Christ, 2) You will see entire families at worship together, Mom, Dad their kids and their grandchildren, 3) People are excited about the many different ways they can serve 4) We're excited about the Word of God and how it transforms our lives, 5) We are open to all forms of worship. We practice traditional but we're open to trying new things too. & finally we expect visitors.... We're expecting you, we just don't know when you're going to show up!
We're a conservative Disciples of Christ Church that embraces all with love and compassion. Have you been hurt by the 'church' before? If so we apologize for whatever has happened to you in the past. Sometimes people do things that are not what God would want them to do. We're sorry for that and we try our best not to repeat those same mistakes. If we do though, be confident that we will listen to you and learn from the experience.
Been through a difficult divorce? We understand how excrutiatingly painful that can be. Usually no one enters into that decision unless there has been a lot of hurt before hand. We do not believe the church should add to that pain. Come and join us and we'll walk beside you, not judge you.
Have you suffered from a great tragedy in your life? Our congregation understands tragedies, we've had some really tough situations in our own lives. Come, we'll walk beside you, listen to you and lend a shoulder if you need it.
Think there are hypocrites in the 'church'. We can't deny this, but we really try not to be. Give us a try........ don't be too hypocritical of us.
